On March 17, 1993, the Faculty Senate Executive Committee approved a statement entitled "Faculty Responsibility: Policy and Process," which has since been favorably reviewed by department chairs, deans, and vice presidents. A copy of the resolution is attached.

The Provost and I concur that it is appropriate to adopt this statement as a policy of the University at Buffalo. I am therefore pleased to promulgate it as UB policy. The chairs and deans will oversee its implementation, with guidance from Provost Bloch.

My thanks to all the faculty colleagues and administrative officers who have devoted time and effort to review this matter.
